Safe Hands Funeral Services
Safe Hands Funeral services, independently owned by Penny Strachan, based in Storrington, West Sussex, just a 10 minute drive from Worthing. Here to listen to your wishes and help facilitate and provide a memorable, affordable funeral, individually tailored to suit you and your loved ones needs, We can provide both a traditional or modern service, and will work with you to achieve the most fitting funeral for you and for the person who has passed, whatever that may be. We encourage and support family participation and we allow time and space to enable a meaningful farewell.
From your first call day or night, you will be dealing with the same person, as when you make the funeral arrangements, right through to the day of the service. We are committed to providing the highest level of service offering families in Sussex and beyond, a funeral director who offers the best care & value, without compromise.
You can be certain that the person who has passed, will be cared for, just as you would care for them. Treated with compassion, respect & dignity, washed, dressed (if you wish, with clothes provided, or wrapped in a cotton shroud. All within our modern, specialist equipped on site mortuary. Visiting your loved one, should you so wish, in our calm and serene chapel, is included in our service.
There is such a thing as a 'good' funeral and celebration of someone's life, but sadly too few experience it. We are determined that people of Sussex and surrounding areas have this, which is why we started Safe Hands. If a personal service is what you are looking for, you have found it with us.
The premises situated at 38 West Street Storrington, provide a modern, relaxed, informal environment to discuss your funeral arrangements, or enquires. You will always be warmly welcomed and we aim for you to feel relaxed and comfortable. However, should you prefer the arrangements to be made in the privacy of your own home, we will be pleased to accommodate your wishes & visit you there.
Sadly due to the Corona Virus, we are currently only able to offer home visits in the garden, funeral arrangements may be made via the telephone & internet, or coming into Safe Hands.
We are very proud of our new premises which includes a Service Chapel offering an alternative venue for when the Crematorium is too big, unavailable or simply not right for the service you wish to arrange.
Forge Chapel here at Safe Hands offers a modern and calming environment in which to hold a funeral service seating up to 20 people. There is no time pressure, and a funeral can take place within the normal 7-10 days (subject to availability at crematorium). As well as modern lighting, and music system it offers a TV screen for displaying a slideshow of favourite family photographs which adds
a moving and personal tribute.
Coronavirus - Covid -19 Update
It is crucial that our staff members remain well enough to carry out our work and so we have actioned plans that are designed to not only keep us able to continue with what we need to do, but also to protect you as far as is practical from us.
We are asking for your support by paying close attention to the new guidelines we have in place to help safeguard all of our health and well being.
We will be unable to shake hands, and must avoid physical contact and practice reasonable social distancing. Please do not be offended, this is to protect you, as well as us. We ask you to join us in practicing proper public hygiene, if you do need to sneeze or cough, please do so into a tissue or your elbow.
We ask you not to visit us if you feel unwell, or have been in contact with people who are unwell.
We are able and will continue to treat all those that have passed and are in our care, with the upmost dignity and respect.
We are still able to arrange a funeral as normal, though with fewer mourners able to attend.
Please be mindful of the government guidelines regarding mass gatherings. During the courses of this pandemic, funerals will have to be smaller and more intimate. Elderly and vulnerable relatives are of course advised to stay home and self isolate. As of 8th August it is mandatory to wear Face masks, at all funeral directors premises and the crematoriums, unless you are speaking during the service to read the eulogy or readings.
We are, as always, available 24/7 by telephone but have been advised to limit face to face contact for the safety of families and our own team and their families.
Thank you for your understanding, hopefully we overcome this current situation, and things will return to normal as quickly as possible.
Feel free to pop in and have a look around and meet us. After all "it's better to know us and not need us,
than to need us and not know us"
